LauraLynn Children’s Hospice provides a community of care and services to children with palliative care needs while also providing family support services and a home to our residents where quality-of-life is paramount.
We collaborated with the amazing people in the organisation offering our support and design services putting together a proposal to modernise their brand identity and collateral. While it is yet to launch fully due to some restructuring in the organisation, the work created is ready to roll out in the future.

Spotting a true brand platform.
We needed to be conscientious of the existing LauraLynn logo, understanding how it came about in the first place. Laura and Lynn were daughters of hospice founders, Jane and Brendan McKenna.
Sadly, both Laura and Lynn passed away from lengthy illnesses and the experience of their passing inspired the couple to build the hospice. Understanding the legacy of the charity and its identity, we realised that we had to stay true to the core principles of the original logo, simply refreshing it rather than starting again.
The swing in the original represents the support the hospice gives to sick children and their families. It offers a feeling of positivity and solidity at a difficult time for the children and their families alike. With the swing as our base, Laura and Lynn sit comfortably atop it drawn in our new signature style.

Introducing some new friends.
The swing is the perfect place for more illustrations so we created four new friends to the LauraLynn gang — meet Lucky, Luke, LL-5000 and Lottie! Each of the new characters sit neatly on the swing just like Laura and Lynn.

Again, we looked at the existing materials from the old identity and refreshed them. Specifically, we took inspiration from the cloud motif used previously and created colourful flowing shapes that run across printed materials.
